City Briefly

Every week, City Manager Tom Aspell puts on his furry dog costume, heads down to Rollins Park and demands to be walked. We scold him with a rolled-up Insider – when we unroll it, the city memo is printed inside! Wow!

Be 'On the Beat'

ConcordTV will be airing the next episode of “On the Beat” with the Concord Police Department Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. on channel 17, Aspell writes. Neither Ponch nor John is scheduled to make an appearance. But you can tune in to see the following: highlights and interview from Concord's National Night Out, which was held Aug. 7 at Rollins Park. The “Did You Know” segment will focus on the regulations that young drivers are required to follow to obtain a New Hampshire driver's license (for instance, did you know that it's frowned upon to drive while eating with chopsticks? How many rules are there?!), as well as the laws governing Youth Operator License Restrictions, Shannon Camara from the SPCA (hey, we know her!) will discuss “Walk For The Animals.” And there will be information about the “Drug Take Back” program scheduled for Sept. 29.

The Unicycle for Animals and Drug Giveaway days have understandably been scratched from the schedule.

If you don't get Channel 17, the show will be available the morning of Sept. 6 via Concord TV's website at yourconcordtv.org.

Viewers are encouraged to send ideas and comments about the show to Officer Ryan Howe via email to rhowe@concordnh.gov or by phone at 225-8600.

Don't miss fall golf

Beginning Sept. 6, golfers can pay $300 and play unlimited golf this fall at Beaver Meadow, Aspell writes. Golfers will also be able to use this money toward their 2013 membership. It's a membership drive! It's all fore you! Join the club! We're out of golf puns! (Ed. note: something about green?)

The course has several “member only” and “member/guest” events coming up and it's a great time to become a member of New Hampshire's oldest golf course. There are no “guest/guest” or “boy/girl” events.
