How long have you been a garbage man?

About seven months.

What's the weirdest thing you've ever found on your route?

A small colony of barn mice.

Is there anything you can't take that people often try to throw away?

TVs and electronics are the most common.

One man's trash is another man's treasure: ever keep anything that someone threw away?

I found a pair of gloves once; that's the only thing I've ever taken.

Any tips for our readers to help them deal with the smell of garbage?

Completely holding your breath, I guess, is the best way.

What's the grossest part of your job?

The smell – or the trash juices are always a fun time.

What's the most fun part of your job?

Being outside all the time, and the people. I meet some interesting people. The other day, a lady said I was too cute to be a trash man.

What do you do if a bag rips in the street?

Get out the shovel and clean in up.

What are some of the most hazardous parts of your job?

Some of the stuff people throw away, they don't realize it's dangerous. Like bleach.

How many times have you seen the movie Men At Work starring Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez as garbagemen?

I don't think I've ever seen it, but if Charlie Sheen is in it, it's probably good.

What would you be doing if you weren't a garbageman?

Probably delivering pizza or something. I am going to school in the spring for criminal justice.

What's your hidden talent?

Probably my charisma.
