We (heart) movers and shakers

If you’re young and a professional, then you need to check out the Concord Young Professionals Network, an initiative of the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce.
The group gathers once a month at an area business. This month’s meeting will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 5:30 p.m. at the Centennial Inn, 96 Pleasant St. There’s an ice breaker, socializing and, of course, food.

There’s no charge to attend, but preregistration is helpful – visit concordypn.org or call 224-2508.

To give you an idea of who you’ll find at CYPN, we’ll be checking in with various attendees from time to time. Our first victim is Jennifer Mazzei, a Concord resident, president of J Maze Design and generally cool person.

How old are you? Thirty-three. I love being 33 – such a cool number.

What do you for a living? I am president of J Maze Design. My other roles are also web designer/graphic designer, human resources, accounting, sales, volunteer and, of course, mom of two and wife of one.

How has being involved with the Concord Young Professionals helped you? When I went to the first CYPN event, I was shocked that even that many young professionals were in Concord! It has opened the door to meet new friends as well as invaluable business contacts. Whether it is getting new clients or helping someone find a job, we help each other out. It is great when I get to work on a project with people from CYPN – it makes the flow that much easier when you know the person first.

If CYPN had a mascot, what would it be? A spider monkey. Or, as an alternate, one of those Trolls from the ’80s – they are good luck.

What’s your favorite spot to hang out in Concord? I love Red River Theatres and taking the kids to White Park. (I am also a mac ’n cheese pizza addict – so have to say the Common Man too!)

What New Year’s resolutions did you make for 2010? To not waste time. Both professionally and personally, life is too short to spend a ton of time doing things you don’t love doing. That includes dishes – I hate doing dishes.

How does it feel to be our very first young professional of the month? It is an honor! Thank you! Will my sash arrive in the mail or do I need to pick it up? (Ed. – Sashes! Why didn’t we think of that?)

What advice do you have for other young professionals in town? I think that it is important to get out and meet people. Become active in the community whether it is volunteering, sitting on a board or networking at the CYPN events. It helps you become a well-rounded inpidual, and that is not only good for you but good for your career.
