Thursday's jam-packed evening of poetry

Take a break from shopping and give yourself the gift of poetry! You might even find someone else a gift while you're at it.

Join us on Dec. 10 at 7 p.m for “The Gift of Poetry” as we welcome some great poets to Gibson's Bookstore, 27 S. Main St.

Scheduled to appear are James Hofford, Martha Carlson-Bradley, Don Kimball, Glenn Currie, Martha Donovan, Maura MacNeil, Meg Kearney, Don Wellman, Nate Graziano, Maggie Dietz, Jim Schley, Jennifer Militello, Ralph Sneeden, Matt Miller, Rodger Martin, Midge Goldberg, Robert Crawford and Alexandria Peary. We'll also welcome Concord High School's Cote Laramie, the 2009 New Hampshire Poetry Out Loud champ.

Many of these poets teach at area colleges. They are all talented, but here are a few highlights – Maggie Dietz is the assistant poetry editor for “Slate” with Robert Pinksky, Jennifer Militello won the Tupelo Press first book prize. Jim Schley directs the Frost Place. Dudley Laufmann won the National Heritage Fellowship – the NEA's highest honor in the traditional arts. It's a great lineup.
