City Briefly

Finally!
Something exciting.
Each week, City Manager Thomas Aspell dishes out all the city news we can take in this column. And we’re happy to announce that this week, we’re starting off with something . . . well, a bit more enticing than road work. What could that be, you ask? Why, RED SOX TICKETS!!!
The Recreation Department has a limited number of tickets available the Red Sox vs. Mets on Sunday, May 24.
Complete information is available online at: http://www.onconcord.com/recreation.

Woo hoo!
Cold carnival rocked.
Says Aspell: “The Recreation Department would like to thank everyone who attended the Winter Carnival,” held recently at White Park.
“An estimated 800 people showed up and a great time was had by all,” Aspell continued. “A special thank-you goes out to the volunteer groups who helped make this year’s event so successful: The Friends of White Park, Walker and Kimball School PTOs, The Friends Program and, of course, the Grounds Division of the General Services Department for ice maintenance and the great bonfire.”
Aww. General Services, we think a certain city manager likes you . . .

Got snow?
Not for long!
Have you been wondering how long you’ll have to face the mountain of grayish powder right outside your house? Do you worry that you’ll hit parked cars on streets that have lost several feet of space to snow?
Says Aspell, not at all defensively: “Crews of the General Services Department continue to remove snow from hydrants, sidewalks and narrowed streets, as time allows between storms.”
