Until we meet again next year, Race Fever

Tom Geno, president of the Concord Lions Club and Lori McIntosh, co-chairman of Race Fever, regretfully announce that the event has been cancelled for 2009 due to lack of sufficient sponsorship.

Airgas and their associates have been great sponsors in the past. Airgas provided us the monetary support to put on this fundraiser for the past two years and without them, the event couldn't have been run. Airgas Northeast wanted to return again this year, but the ailing economy forced them to pull back.

We would also like to thank Merrimack County Savings Bank, N.H. Radio Network, Courtyard Marriott and Mobile on the Road for all their help in making this event possible. The N.H. National Guard is also to be commended for bringing its band, Granite Rock, to the event.

A special thanks should go out to Sprint for bringing its simulator to the event and to Nationwide Insurance for bringing its simulator and “smart driving experience” and a lot of advertising to the event last year.

The Saturday Night Heros made the event possible by bringing race cars, snowmobiles, motorcycles and boats to display at the event and to sign autographs. We hope that the fans will go and support them at their local tracks this season.

Airgas Race Fever '07 and '08 enable the Concord Lions Club to help deserving people with eyeglasses and hearing aids and helped fund our scholarship program. In the two years that the Concord Lions Club ran the event, around $10,000 was raised, with all money being returned to the Concord area.

Although Race Fever for this year is cancelled, plans to bring the event back in 2010 are already underway, and we are seeking sponsorship at all levels. The 2010 event will be held on June 24.
