City briefly

Each week, City Manager Tom Aspell gets a hankering for buttermilk pancakes, but he creates a slippery mess all over his kitchen when he tries to milk the butter. Thankfully his slippery footprints spell out a city memo.

Brochure time, bro

Keep an eye on the mail

The 2015 Solid Waste bro-chure has been mailed and is available at Concord General Services, City Hall, the Concord Public Library, and the Transfer Station, Aspell writes. That’s a pretty crappy Christmas card from the city, if you ask us.

Be sure to get your copy for information about trash and recycling collection services, the transfer station, Earth Materials Recycling Center, an in-depth Q and A with Justin Bieber, single-stream recycling, our Pay-As-You-Throw program and the detachable 2015 Solid Waste Event Calendar.

No more wait to skate

The Grounds Division of the Parks & Recreation Department is pleased to announce that the city’s outdoor skating areas at White Park, Beaver Meadow Golf Course, and Rollins Park are now ready for use, Aspell writes. The outdoor skating area that our driveway has become remains our own private hell, though.

Conditions are good at all areas – assuming you were pretty much done needing to feel your fingers and toes – and we hope to see everyone enjoying the ice that Mother Nature and grounds staff have provided. As a gentle reminder, there is no hockey allowed on the White Park pond. Please utilize the hockey rink for all hockey activities.

Park it, dude

Strategery finishing up

Nelson Nygaard, the city’s parking consultant who parked that second a in his last name, will be holding a public forum Jan. 28 at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers to preview the findings and preliminary draft recommendations of the Strategic Parking Plan, Aspell writes. Following the forum, city staff and the consultant will finalize the findings and recommendations of the plan for a subsequent presentation to the City Council.
