We thought it might be fun to get some Concord baby statistics, seeing as this is the baby issue, after all.
First, we turned to the city clerk’s office. They turned to Stephen Wurtz, who turned to Patsy Elderkin, who got us the numbers we were seeking. Patsy is a senior data analyst for the NH Division of Vital Records.
We asked Patsy for the total number of births in 2008, and the most popular names, but there are a few things to keep in mind about the data, says Patsy:
“1. Some NH hospitals are still entering 2008 births into our database.
“2. There may be some 2008 home births that have not been reported to us as of the date of the statistics report.
“3. All NH births occurring in other states to NH residents have not been reported to us as of the date of the statistics report.“
Without further ado, here are the Concord baby statistics!
A total of 1,372 babies were born in Concord in 2008. Of that number, 339 were born to moms who reside in Concord, and 1,033 were born to moms who live in another city or town.
There were 50 moms who live in Concord, but had their baby in another city or town, which brings us to a grand total of 389 Concord resident births in 2008.
The top 10 names of babies born in Concord in 2008 are as follows:
The top names vary a bit when you look at the state as a whole (for 2008):
