Volunteer NH will receive a grant of $223,000 from AmeriCorps, the federal agency for national service and volunteerism. The grant, funded through the Volunteer Generation Fund, will expand Volunteer NH’s volunteer engagement practices in New Hampshire.
Volunteer NH will leverage these funds to provide Mini-Grants, a volunteer recruitment tool, training resources, and networking for nonprofits across the state to build service capacity.
This funding will also support Volunteer NH’s initiatives to meet community needs, including the 2026-2028 State Service Plan priorities: affordable housing, homelessness, access to mental health resources, job skills training, and aging-in-place resources for those ages 55+.
AmeriCorps provides support to organizations to help them to address pressing community needs, expand capacity in organizations and build economic opportunity through community-driven efforts across the country. The Volunteer Generation Fund grants will be used to strengthen entities’ ability to recruit, engage and support volunteers. At a time of social need, when Americans of all ages are looking for ways to give back, AmeriCorps seeks to fund effective approaches that strengthen the capacity and impact of volunteerism and invest in innovative volunteer engagement practices.
Gretchen Stallings, Volunteer NH executive director, said this investment in New Hampshire will support people who want to serve and the nonprofits that need their help.
“This investment helps us bring them together,” Stallings said. “By building the capacity of nonprofits to recruit, engage and support volunteers, we can create more meaningful pathways to service and ensure that more Granite Staters have the opportunity to make a real difference in their communities.”
