Celebrate the return of our nesting bird species at NH Audubon’s Massabesic Center and Wildlife Sanctuary on Saturday, April 11! We’ll be hosting a series of activities throughout the day to kick off the nesting season, from building birdhouses and short bird walks to learning more about our nesting bird species at Massabesic and discovering how to become a volunteer NestWatch monitor. With an activity for every age and ability, come for 30 minutes, or stay for the whole day to learn with us!
NestWatch Volunteer Training: Eastern Bluebird and Tree Swallow Monitoring (9-11:30 a.m.)
Learn all about our NestWatch Monitoring Program, including how to identify nests, eggs, and other characteristics of Eastern Bluebirds, American Tree Swallows, Black-capped Chickadees, and more. We will begin in the classroom at 9 a.m. for a 2.5-hour presentation, with a short break for snacks (bring your own snacks or lunch and water). Then we’ll head outside to learn nest box locations, clean out residual nest materials from last year, and practice field identification of early season birds. This program is geared toward adults.
