If you’ve ever been tempted to throw something from the chairlift, this is your chance. Preparations are underway to celebrate the 10th annual Mt. Sunapee Duck Drop, with proceeds benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kearsarge-Sunapee. The public is invited to ride the lift and aim their rubber duck ammunition at a series of artistic targets sponsored by local businesses. Past targets have taken the shape of Lake Sunapee, a bank vault, an acorn, an ATV, a giant teddy, a house, and several duck-themed sculptures.

The stakes are high, as prizes range from several $500 gift cards to high-tech gear, home improvement items, and experiences like lift tickets, a private Lake Sunapee cruise, and Patriots tickets.

The event occurs during October’s holiday weekend, when there are lots of other exciting happenings in the Sunapee region. Lifts are open on Sunday, October 11 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., but buy ducks early or in advance, because they sell out each year. Winners are announced at 3 p.m., and while you wait, enjoy pumpkin painting, tractor-drawn hayrides, live music, food, beverages, backyard Olympics with categories for under 6, pre-teen, teen, and adult, and more.

The event is the brainchild of Northcape Design Build, which helps to organize this Boys & Girls Clubs fundraiser. For more information or to purchase tickets in advance, visit NHduckdrop.com.
