The Community Players of Concord has announced auditions for its production of “To Kill a Mockingbird,” written by Christopher Sergel and adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Harper Lee. This classic play opens in a sleepy Alabama town in the midst of the Great Depression. However, the facade of the seemingly peaceful town begins to crack when a young black man is accused of a terrible crime.
Driven by an unshakeable moral conviction, local lawyer Atticus Finch defends the man in a trial that sends violent waves through the community. Timeless and lingering, this hard-hitting work explores prejudice, compassion and the courage to do what is right. “To Kill a Mockingbird” will be performed on May 1, 2 and 3 at the Concord City Auditorium. It will be directed by Elizabeth Lent.
There are more than 15 roles to be cast including three youth actors, (one female about age 9 to 10 and two males about 12-14). Auditions will be held at the Community Playerโs Studio, 435 Josiah Bartlett Road, Concord, NH on Sunday, March 1 st and Monday, March 3 rd at 6pm โ 6:45pm for children and 7 pm – 9 pm for adults.
