On Friday, October 24, NHTI’s Friday Night at the Movies presents a tribute to Robert Redford, actor, producer, Oscar-winning director, and founder of the Sundance Film Festival (and Institute). With so many memorable films to choose from, a representative choice was difficult to make. The choice is “The Sting” (1973), winner of seven Academy Awards, including “Best Picture,” in which Redford, co-starring with Paul Newman, marvelously plays a Depression-era grifter who instigates an elaborate con to avenge a friend’s death. Redford received his only “Best Actor” Oscar nomination for his performance as Johnny Hooker. But he, along with Brando, Nicholson and Pacino lost to Jack Lemmon that year! Please join us to salute Robert Redford and the charm, humor, and nifty plot twists of “The Sting.”
