Havenwood Heritage Heights has been around for 58 years, offering a local retirement community with a variety of services. The retirement community is the winner of the Top Cap award in the Active Aging category.
“We are a not-for-profit, faith-based retirement community providing a continuum of services and long-term care, where people of varying backgrounds, 62 years and older, live together in an atmosphere of independence and dignity with a common bond of companionship and a sense of community,” said Jane Pointras, vice president of Heritage Heights housing services.

Q: What’s your favorite part of the work you do? I enjoy working with residents from all walks of life. They teach us every day in the way they move to a new place, take on new hobbies, make new friends, join various programs and live their best life. Residents often say they should have moved sooner. In addition, they teach us how to accept life as we age and how they cope with various challenges. We are there for them every step of the way.
Q: What role do you envision your business playing in the community? Since 1967, we have embraced the Concord community through partnerships, sponsorships, board work, volunteer work, historic celebrations and so much more. Many of our residents are from the Concord area. Our hiking/biking group walks in the Christmas Parade every year. Many of our residents volunteer in the Concord community schools and churches, as well as participate in the NH Senior Games.
Q: What does winning Top Cap mean to you? It is an honor to receive the Top Cap award and to be recognized for the hard work by our staff to provide a quality life for residents through our continuum of care.
Q: What’s something people might not know about you or your business? The HHH Rehab Agency continues to go through the certification and licensing process to be an outpatient therapy provider at the Heritage Heights campus. Once we are fully certified and hold an additional state license, we will also be able to work with residents in the fitness center and indoor pool, during hours specifically reserved for patients in formal therapy, as well as other potential locations, such as in their apartments. We primarily offer physical therapy, but we will also offer occupational therapy and speech-language pathology services.
Q: Anything else you want to share? Our President/CEO, Michael Palmieri, has been our leader for over 27 years. His vision has taken this organization to become a leader in the industry. Under his direction, the organization has grown to attract today’s active seniors. Things like the outdoor sports complex, outdoor pool, auditorium, movie theater, fitness centers, dining venues, pavilions and revitalized cottages. These new cottages offer an open concept, master suite, garage, basement and no-step entry. In addition, Mike has created private nursing home rooms with a private bath, fireplace, a wall television and an in-room lift in the 5-star nursing home.
