Canterbury Shaker Village has a series of exciting upcoming events. Here’s three happening before the end of August at the historic location in Canterbury.
Nature Journaling (Saturday, August 23 at 10:30 a.m.)
Join instructor Heidi Colburn, a certified Nature Journal Educator, for a fun and engaging introductory workshop.
Nature journaling is a great way to spark curiosity and deepen your connection with nature using just a pen or pencil and a notebook. This practice has been found to have positive physical, emotional, and environmental impacts!
This event is open to all ages. We will be outside for an hour, so dress appropriately. Heidi will teach you about nature journaling and how to begin. You will also have time to practice nature journaling.
Cost: $15 per person. $10 for Members.
Dudley Laufman + The Canterbury Country Dance Orchestra (Sunday, August 24 at 4 p.m.)
This concert features Dudley Laufman + The Canterbury Country Dance Orchestra, who continue to be fully engaged in a 70-year career as a dance caller for local country dances throughout New England. Dudley has the rare ability to both call a dance while also playing an instrument. He plays melodeon, harmonica and sometimes, when his fingers allow, his fiddle!
Cost: Free admission with a suggested donation of $20.
Summer Special Tour Series: Attics and basements (Tuesday, August 26, 2 p.m.)
Have you ever wanted a chance to go behind-the-scenes at Canterbury Shaker Village? Who doesn’t like exploring the hidden treasures of an attic or basement?
Join Director of Education Kyle Sandler as he explores some of the most interesting “off-limits” spaces while discussing the important role that attics and basement played in the daily life of the Village.
Cost: $30 per person. $15 for Members. Includes regular Village admission.
