The Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce’s Concord Young Professionals Network introduces you to our Young Professional of the Month, Tabitha Dunn. Each month the CYPN Steering Committee recommends a young professional in the community it thinks readers would enjoy getting to know better.

Where do you live? Tilton.

Where do you currently work? Girls Inc. of NH. We are an after-school and summer camp facility, where we inspire girls to be strong, smart and bold. I am the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Program Coordinator.

What’s your favorite part of your work day? I am passionate about introducing young individuals, especially girls and young people from disadvantaged families, to STEM. The best part of my work day is seeing and hearing the thrill of enjoyment when a girl(s) gets really into the STEM activity that they are partaking in. In the fall I enjoy coaching our FIRST Lego League teams!

Where did you go to school? I attended The University of Maine (Go Black Bears!), where I earned a B.S. in civil engineering and a minor in mathematics.

What do you like to do for fun? I enjoy hanging out with friends, whether we are just chatting or playing board games or watching movies, etc.

Last book you’ve read? The last book I finished was Origin by Dan Brown.

How did you find out about CYPN and how has it benefited your business or you personally? When CYPN was new to Concord, and so was I, a few of my friends were committee members and they convinced me to start attending. I got hooked and have greatly enjoyed learning about places in Concord that I might not have previously known about. I also enjoy meeting new people, even while I am not so good at walking up and starting conversations with people I do not yet know.

What organizations are you involved with? Future Tech Women, Temple Beth Jacob, Society of Women Engineers – Southern NH.

What’s your favorite restaurant in Concord? How can I only pick one? Dos Amigos, Checkmate Pizza for their Checkmate Ultra, Arnie’s Place for “Nazzy’s Favorite” ice cream, Yellow Sub, Barley House and more!

If you could visit any country, where would you go? There are so many places that I’d like to travel to! France, Italy and Greece would probably be on the top of my list.

Where is the best place you’ve visited? Cruise to Alaska or Israel, both amazing and different places!

Who would you really like to meet? Jennifer Wiener. She is my favorite author and happens to be from my home state of Pennsylvania.

Tell us a few interesting facts about yourself! I am an AmeriCorps VISTA Alumni, I have a background as a structural engineer, I am a dedicated blood donor, I enjoy crocheting, I am a bargain shopper!
