Book of the Week: ‘Stalking Ground’

Stalking Ground

Margaret Mizushima

2016, 310 pages

Fiction, Mystery

Mattie Cobb and her police dog Robo set out to help find a missing woman, Adrienne Howard, Deputy Ken Brody’s girlfriend. The search leads them up into the Colorado mountains as a snowstorm begins and night is falling. Why would Adrienne go hiking alone in this part of the forest and not tell anyone where she was going? Was there foul play involved? Mattie and Robo must survive the night in an unforgiving landscape where a murderer may be hiding.

Mattie and Robo are back, a strong a team as ever. The investigation has many twists and turns, and Mattie’s veterinarian friend Cole Walker becomes involved in the search. They are on the trail of a ruthless murderer who has an unusual way of finding their prey. Mattie and Robo are racing against time as the hunters suddenly become the hunted.

This is an exciting read, and if you like this one, her first novel is called Killing Trail. It has the same great characters, but you don’t have to read them in order.
