Nothing says summer like splashing around in the water.

And soon, you won’t have to look for ridiculously larger-than-life puddles to do it in, as the Concord city pools are set to open for the season on June 17.

We know this is a little advance notice, since it’s not until next Saturday, but this is the Summer Guide after all and we want you to be prepared for everything.

Concord is home to seven pools, and they will all open at 12:30 p.m. on the 17th.

There’s Garrison Park (31 Hutchins St.), Keach Park (2 Newton Ave.), Merrill Park (25 Eastman St.), Rolfe Park (79 Community Drive, Penacook), Rollins Park (33 Bow St.), White Park (1 White St.) and Kimball Park (171 N.State St.)

If you remember all the way back to last summer, Rolfe Park pool got a much-needed facelift. It was the first of the seven pools to undergo a renovation project, and the plan is for one each year.

This season, Kimball Park pool will look all shiny and new, complete with a zero-entry feature, new deck and updated bathrooms. There will be a special grand opening on June 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., so you can take an even earlier swim than you were expecting.

The pools at Keach, Kimball, Rolfe, Merrill and Garrison parks will be open Monday through Friday from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The White Park pool will be available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to noon, 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 7 p.m, and Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Rollins pool hours for open swim are Monday through Friday 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m., and for adult lap swim from 5:15 to 6 p.m. It will also be open Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. for public swim.

The pools will be closed at 3:30 p.m. on July 3, 13, 21, Aug. 1 and 9 for mandatory staff training, but will re-open for regular evening swim hours.

The pools may close on occasion due to inclement weather. Any time lightning is visible, thunder is heard or a storm warning is issued, the guards will ask swimmers to leave the area immediately. Pools will remain closed for a minimum of 30 minutes.

There will be three lifeguards on duty at each of the pools except for Rollins, which will have four.

Each of the pools, except White Park, have swim teams and registration is open until June 29.

There are also spaces remaining for free swim lessons for Concord residents thanks to Concord Housing and Redevelopment sponsoring the two-week sessions.

Residents are able to swim at the city pools for free, while nonresidents can purchase a family season pass for $113.
