Walk the red carpet at Red River Theatres’s Oscars party on Sunday. It’s going to be a glamorous time.

Walking the red carpet at the Oscars is a pretty big deal, and unfortunately we haven’t heard of anyone from Concord who will be strutting their stuff this Sunday.

But that’s okay, you don’t need the bright lights of Hollywood to feel like you’re at the biggest film party of the year. That’s because Red River Theatres is hosting an Oscars night get-together with Hollywood to Main Street: Concord’s Own Red Carpet.

“It’s going to be a really fun night,” said Angie Lane, executive director at Red River.

One of the independent theater’s signature fundraising events is back, and that means you can get all dressed up and enjoy the show with other film enthusiasts.

Partygoers will enter through the Capital Commons Parking Garage to the luxurious festivities that begin at O Steaks and Seafood at 5:30 p.m.

There you take a walk down an actual red carpet featuring a step and repeat banner where the “paparazzi” will take pictures and ConcordTV Executive Director Doris Ballard will be conducting interviews. So you better make sure you look the part for a big night on the town.

Once inside, you’ll enjoy appetizers and a cash bar, while listening to the sweet sounds of the Tall Granite Big Band.

At 7:30 p.m., the party will move downstairs to Red River Theatres to catch all the action at the Oscars – live and on the big screen.

Both of the large theaters will be showing all the glitz and glamour from the other side of the country, so you can sit and watch from beginning to end or wander between.

The recently renovated Simchik Cinema will also be showing the Oscars, but with a little something extra as well. That’s where the Treat Suite will be, featuring lots of tasty desserts, as well as the beer, wine and champagne tastings.

“So if you’re getting food, you won’t miss anything,” Lane said.

There will also be trivia and a chance to win many great prizes.

It’s a night you won’t want to miss. So pull out your best and flashiest attire and get ready for a night that will make you feel like you’re in the comforts of Hollywood.

Tickets are $55 for Red River members and $60 for everyone else. Proceeds from the night benefit the theater.

“It’s a fundraiser, so what you pay will go back to support Red River,” Lane said.

To purchase tickets, visit redrivertheatres.org/2017/ 01/rrt-red-carpet-event or call 224-4697.

You can also buy them at the box office in person, but they will not be sold at the door.
