It’s getting pretty cold out there these days and unfortunately, it’s going to stay that way for a long time.
And because the fact that winter is officially here, you’ve probably busted out your hats and gloves, scarves and long socks, to ensure you stay as warm as possible over the next few months.
But there are people who don’t have the basic necessities to get through another long and cold winter. So the Concord Library is doing something about it.
For the second straight year, the library is collecting new or newly made winter hats, gloves, mittens, scarves and socks that will be donated to the Concord Homeless Resource Center.
New this year is the addition of gathering toiletry items, such as hand sanitizer and soap, shaving cream and razors, for both men and women, which will also be donated to the resource center to be given out to those in the area who need them.
The library put out the warming tree on Nov. 28 and will be accepting donations through Dec. 30. Items may be placed on the tree or under it.
While warm coats are definitely a big need this time of year, the library is not accepting coat donations.
So if you’re looking for a way to help out this time of year, give the gift of warmth.
