The last time we checked out a Lithermans Limited brew, the Concord brewery was just opening its tap room and beers for public consumption and of course we went.

But things have changed over the last few months and now Lithermans is not only still serving up tasters at its 126 Hall St. location, but it has branched out to sell in a few select Concord locations, like Cimo’s South End Deli, the Concord Food Co-op and Barb’s Beer Emporium, as well as a few local watering holes.

So we took a trip to Cheers last week, which just started serving Lithermans, to grab a cold one on what turned out to be a very hot July day. When we went to the tap room, we only tried The Real Roxanne and Roxanne Roxanne, both IPAs, but neither of which are in Lithermans’ core four. Luckily Cheers had the Simply Red Ale on tap, which has 9 percent alcohol by volume, and is quite delicious. It’s one of Lithermans’ staples and we can see why.

On its website, Lithermans describes it as ‘big, chewy, malty, slightly sweet, juicy with Pacific Northwest hop flavor and aroma, tempered with moderate smooth bitterness.’ That’s just how we would describe it, but in a more beersy way.

The Simply Red Ale is served in one of those snifter glasses because of its alcohol by volume content, but was a pretty good bargain at just $4 (at happy hour) and some change because of a little thing called taxes.

It would have been nice to enjoy it on the patio, but it was too hot on this day so we elected to stay indoors.

And just as a little aside, we heard Lithermans has been pumping out a bunch of new brews lately that will be available at the tap room, which is open Fridays, 4 to 7 p.m., and Saturdays noon to 5 p.m.

Trust us, it’s worth a stop.
