Concord is pretty great, but we have a few ideas to make it even cooler

As you’ve probably figured out during your time living here or reading the Insider each and every week, there’s a lot going on in Concord.

We outlined a lot of the things that make the capital city a great place to visit – or staycation in – over the previous few pages. But like most destinations, Concord isn’t perfect and there’s definitely some things that would make it an even greater hot spot for people to come to.

It’s nothing major, but a few additions here and there would just put it over the top.

You’ve probably thought a lot about this too when trying to decide what to do on a Friday night or Saturday afternoon. But here’s what we came up with.

Mini golf: Outside of Market Days, there isn’t a mini golf hole in the city limits to speak of. Sure, if you head less than a mile into Chichester, you’ll find Chuckster’s, but unfortunately, we can’t stray over the city lines. Rules are rules.

Water park: Sure the city pools are great for a quick dip or to swim a few laps, but we’re talking water slides taller than any building in the city, a lazy river and a wave pool that makes you feel like you’re at the ocean.

Swim-up bar: Hey, adults need to have fun on vacation (or staycation too). And what better way than cooling off in a luxurious pool with a freshly poured cocktail in your hand?

Campground: Of course, when people think of camping they want wilderness and mountains, lakes and rivers. But you can find most of that here and we’re pretty sure a camp ground on the outskirts of town would be a big hit.

Baseball: We understand the Quarry Dogs already filled that summer baseball team void in the early- to mid-2000s, and didn’t go all too well, but there’s just something about catching a ball game on a summer evening – without having to pay an arm and a leg.

Doggie pools around downtown: Nothing appeals more to pet owners than having a place for Fido to cool off on a nice walk.

Water bubblers that dispense local brews: Walk up and take a free sip of fresh beer? Yes please.

Free childcare tents: Parents need breaks. We have no doubt this would be an attractive offer.

Hoverboard rentals: Need we say more?

Market Days Hall of Fame: Why should we keep it just three days a year?

More Insider dispensers: Because everyone loves the Insider.

Main Street photo booths: You need a way to document all the fun you’re having.
