We’d like to introduce you to Megan Marshall. She is going into her senior year at Bow High School – and is also interning for the Insider this summer. So before you start seeing her byline in the paper and start wondering, “Who is this Megan Marshall person?” we figured why not ask her a few questions so you can all get to know her.

How did you end up interning  at the  “Insider”?

For my senior seminar project I decided that I wanted to do something with writing, because I like writing. I then started thinking about how I can incorporate that in to my project. That’s when the idea came to me that I wanted to intern at a newspaper office, so I then talked with my teacher and she emailed the editor from the Insider.

What are you looking forward to most during your summer at the “Insider”?

I am excited to be able to explore different aspects of the newspaper and the community. I am also excited to be able to see the start-to-finish process of putting a paper together.

What do you like to do for fun?

Things that I like to do for fun are dancing, watching movies, going to the beach, skiing, going for walks and reading.

What are your plans for after high school?

My plans for after high school are to go to college for four years or maybe even more, depending on what I decide to major in. I am still currently undecided, but that’s okay. Hopefully this will help me narrow down my decisions.

What is your favorite subject to study in school?

In school I love writing, reading, science, history and art. As you can see I don’t really have a favorite!

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

If I could travel anywhere I’d probably want to go to Italy because I love spaghetti. France would also be another wonderful place to visit and Canada, because my relatives were from there. And Kazakhstan, because I did a project on it and it just sounds interesting.

Where is your favorite place to eat in Concord?

My favorite place to eat is Olive Garden, because I love spaghetti! I also like going there because I love the color green and the restaurant is green.

What’s your favorite kind of ice cream?

My favorite kind of ice cream is double fudge brownie. I just love the brownie bits that are all throughout the ice cream!

If you could meet one person, who would it be?

If I could meet one person I’d want to meet F. Scott Fitzgerald, because I absolutely love his book The Great Gatsby. I just love that time period, and the way that Nick Carraway explains everything – it’s just amazing.

If someone gave you a million dollars, what would you do first?

If someone gave me a million dollars I’d probably use some of the money to pay for my college, and then give a majority of it away. I’d give it away because I feel that I don’t really need that money if I have a job and the essentials that I need. Money can’t buy me happiness.

What’s the most fun thing to do in the summer for a teenager in the Concord area?

Something fun that I’d do in the summer is go hiking, read a book from the library and go see a movie.

What’s your favorite movie of all time? TV show?

My favorite TV show of all time is Castle, because the main character, Kate Becket, is a strong, confident woman. I don’t have a favorite movie. I like all kinds except for horror movies – they scare me.
