If you play guitar – or even if you don’t – you’ve probably heard of Martin guitars before. This company is pretty much as good as it gets when it comes to acoustic guitars.

Whether you already know all about them or not, you will if you check out the Martin Experience event at Strings & Things Music Store next week.

“What Martin does, they go over all things Martin,” said Mike Gallant – or “Mikey G” – an instructor at Strings & Things.

Martin artist Corey Congilio will be at the store giving a basic overview of the history of the company, showing examples of some of their older style guitars and showing how the manufacturing has transitioned over the years. You’ll get the rundown on different types of guitars, different shapes, different body styles – basically everything there is to know about Martin guitars.

And it’s not just a lecture. Feel free to ask whatever questions you’d like. That’s part of the purpose.

Another purpose of the experience events is to show off a new product or technology. This one will focus on Martin’s Aura VT Enhance electronic system, a pickup system allowing you to amplify your acoustic guitar.

While you’re there, you can have a little fun, too. Even though Strings & Things is an official Martin dealer, with lots of options in stock, the company will have about 15 to 20 special guitars with them to show off. And not just any guitars.

“They will bring some custom-built, one-of-a-kind, oh-my-God, jaw-dropping guitars,” Galant said.

It’s not that often that you get the chance to see – and play – loads of $10,000 guitars. Even if you can’t afford one (like us), it’s worth going just to be able to say you’ve actually played a one-of-a-kind Martin. Those are the kind of bragging rights that last a lifetime.

If you don’t happen to have tens of thousands of spare dollars sitting around, that doesn’t mean you can’t own Martin products. During the event, there will be a buy one, get one deal on strings. If you buy a pack of strings, you get one set of Martin SP Lifespan strings for free – those LP Lifespans are super smooth and super long-lasting, so it’s a nice score.

This Martin Experience, which is June 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Strings & Things, is just one of all kinds of events the store regularly puts on – and all of them are free. Check out stringsandthingsmusic.com to stay up to date.
