Bow Garden Club plant sale Saturday
The Bow Garden Club will hold its annual spring plant sale on Saturday at the Bow Community Building, 3 Bow Center Road, from 8 a.m. to noon.
Annuals, perennials, vegetable starters, herbs and hanging plants will be available for purchase with proceeds to benefit the Bow High School Scholarship Program, the club’s ongoing civic beautification efforts and the various community projects they participate in year to year.
Experienced garden club members will be on hand to provide personal assistance to patrons in regard to plant selection and planting advice. A silent auction of a fairy/mini garden will take place.

One-acts coming to Hatbox Theatre
Higgledy Piggledy, a production of four comedic one acts by playwright Donald Tongue, will be performed at the Hatbox Theatre, starting Friday and running through June 12.
The four one acts are Genesis, School Portrait Monologues, Void and Fishbowl.
Show times are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $16.50, and $13.50 for students/seniors/members.
Hatbox Theatre is located in the former Coldwater Creek storefront at Steeplegate Mall.

Concord Regional VNA is offering “Remembering Our Fathers” on Wednesday, June 1 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Concord Regional VNA Hospice House, 240 Pleasant St.
As Father’s Day approaches, join us to support and encourage one another. Connect with others who are facing Father’s Day without their fathers and learn ways of coping with your loss. We encourage you to bring along a photo of your father, as we set aside time to honor the memories of the fathers we have lost.

Mayor’s Walk slated for June 1
Join Concord’s Mayor Jim Bouley on Wednesday, June 1 for the third annual Mayor’s Walk put on by the Capital Area Wellness Coalition.
The walk starts at 9 a.m. (rain or shine) at the State House Plaza. Bring your friends, family and co-workers for a fun, easy walk to start your day and promote a healthy Concord.
The walk will be followed by a health fair in Bicentennial Square from 9:30 to 11 a.m. (shine only).

Summer sign-ups for music school
From music and movement to jam bands to artistic exploration, this year’s summer programs at the Concord Community Music School offer something for kids of all ages. Registration is now open for three camps this summer, led by the music school’s faculty members and special guests. All camps take place at the music school, 23 Wall St.

New planetarium show now showing
The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center’s newest planetarium show, The Little Star that Could, is featured every Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. Geared toward families with young children, The Little Star that Could explores the nature of stars and planetary systems through the story of a friendly young yellow star – Earth’s sun – traveling through the cosmos seeking planets to keep warm.
The Discovery Center is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. General admission is $10 for adults, $9 for students and seniors, $7 for children ages 3 -12 years. Planetarium shows are an additional $5 for all ages. General admission and planetarium shows are free for members and children ages 0 -2 years.

Free speaker training for military
Veterans, service members and military family members who have lost someone they care about to suicide, are encouraged to attend a free speaker training to learn how to help other military members through sharing their own story of loss. This free training will be held June 4-5, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the NAMI –New Hampshire office located at 85 N. State St. Lunch will be provided both days.
This training is specifically designed to teach veterans, service members and their families how to outline their story, prepare for a presentation and talk safely about suicide. It will also provide an opportunity to connect with others who have endured a similar loss. This is an opportunity to create greater understanding both in the military and civilian worlds around suicide from those who have experienced it.

Peer leaders sought for VNA program
Concord Regional VNA is looking for volunteers to become certified as peer leaders in Stanford University’s Chronic Disease Self-Management Program titled “Better Choices, Better Health.”
As a peer leader you will help adults living with ongoing health conditions feel better, regain control of their health and start doing the things they want to do.
This four day training is June 16, 17, 20 and 21 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Concord Regional VNA, 30 Pillsbury St. Upon completion of the training, participants will be asked to co-facilitate future Better Choices, Better Health programs.
