Which comes first, the art or the bloom?
Technically, it’s the art piece that is the inspiration for the floral arrangement at the Concord Garden Club’s annual Art and Bloom exhibit, although many would argue that the inspiration is already in the arrangers’ head and the art piece is just a means to give it form.
This year’s show will again be held at McGowan Fine Art, and will feature 16 floral arrangements and fine art pairings, created by members of the garden club, as well as local floral designers.
“Despite being in the dead of the New England winter, Art and Bloom is really a breath of fresh air for many. Nature, including flowers, is often an inspiration for art, but here we get to see how the floral artist interprets and builds upon another artist’s work. It’s amazing what people come up with,” said Judith Maloy, club president.
The show will run Thursday through Saturday, with a reception on Thursday, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public at McGowan Fine Art, located at 10 Hills Ave.
