At this time of year, it’s not all that uncommon to see a living tree indoors decorated with a variety of bulbs, ornaments and candy canes. But you don’t often find a tree covered with hats, gloves, scarves and socks. Not unless it’s the Keep Concord Warm Tree at the Concord Public Library. For two weeks earlier this month, the library asked for patrons to bring in new or newly made items to donate to the Concord Homeless Resource Center. And the response was what you would expect from this time of year. But don’t let what you see on the tree fool you – there was a lot more than this. There were no concrete numbers of how many mittens, socks and hats they brought in, but there were about 20 bags, ranging from small shopping to large trash ones, filled with warm amenities that were brought to the Concord Homeless Resource Center last week to help those in need this winter.
