McGowan Fine Art to host legal issues series

McGowan Fine Art announces a series of informal seminars for artists focusing on legal issues. Kimberly Peaslee, intellectual property lawyer at Upton & Hatfield, will be presenting. These will be held the third Tuesday of each month, except December, from September through April. We encourage attendance to all seminars because sometimes you don’t know what you don’t know.

These are free and open to the public, but seating is limited so we are asking that attendants RSVP by calling the gallery at 225-2515. The presentation will last till 6:30 leaving participants extra time for questions. Nibbles and wine will be served.

To kick off the series, Peaslee will present Entity Formation/Business Planning on Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

We will introduce the Artist’s Legal Series and discuss the topics to be covered over the next several months and we will introduce the various entities that may be used for your company. We will also introduce the cast of characters you may choose to enlist to help support your creative business including accountants, bankers and lawyers. We will briefly touch on issues relating to hiring employees as well.

RSVP by Sept. 15.
