General Services gives Memorial Field a face-lift

Concord General Services’ Public Properties Division has completed their recent renovation project at Memorial Field. Last spring, Public Properties staff completely renovated the Warren H. Doane Diamond baseball stadium press box. This year, staff focused on upgrades to the football stadium.

Approximately 1,200 pieces of lumber were removed from the bleachers and replaced with new Southern Yellow Pine boards. The bleachers were in need of upgrading since the lumber was over 15 years old. Concord residents expressed joy about this upgrade on Concord General Services’ Facebook page last month on a post advertising the lumber up for bid (now no longer available), stating that the original bleachers were in need of replacement.

In addition to replacing the seating and walkway boards, the press box received some upgrade work as well. The front and sides of the press box were repainted, the entry stairs were rebuilt and refurbished, and the portable benches in the vicinity were also rebuilt and painted.

Concord General Services hopes the community will enjoy the football stadium and Memorial Field a bit more this season – just in time for football!
