Wild and Scenic Film Festival at Red River

The New Hampshire Rivers Council will host the Wild and Scenic Film Festival On Tour at Red River Theatres on Friday, March 27. This is the fifth year that the Rivers Council has hosted this event. The festival is a unique way for viewers to get energized and empowered to work in the community and to get involved in the Council’s initiatives and other projects.

“It is a great opportunity to show your support, become a member and enjoy amazing films from around the world,” said Michele Tremblay, President of N.H. Rivers Council.

The Wild and Scenic Film Festival was started by the watershed advocacy group, the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL), in 2003. Each year the SYRCL festival kicks off the international tour, which includes over 150 communities around the globe, including Concord. The festival is building a network of grassroots organizations connected by a common goal of using film to inspire activism. The event is a “friend-raiser” that focuses on raising awareness and introducing new members to the council.

“Where else can you enjoy outstanding local food, prizes, fun, friends and films from around the world?” said Tremblay. “While the snow may be deep, paddling season is just around the corner and we are looking forward to being inspired about the natural environment by these terrific films.”

A reception will be held from 6 to 7 p.m., allowing time to sample great food and drink, to visit national and local sponsors’ exhibits and to enter a raffle to win a beautiful sofa table handcrafted by local and renowned woodworker Bob Couch who was recently featured in Northern New England Journey magazine. Showtime begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $16, which includes a one-year membership in the Rivers Council or $12 for current members. Tickets were sold out days before the event last year so please visit NHRivers.org to secure your ticket or for more information.
