Musicians of Wall Street to perform on Feb. 6

The Musicians of Wall Street will present a journey through rich traditions of folk hymns, spirituals and sacred music in a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6 in the Concord Community Music School’s Recital Hall, 23 Wall St.

The concert, titled “Simple Gifts: Hymns and Sacred Songs,” will feature three Music School faculty members – Andrea Veal (soprano), Liz Faiella (fiddle, vocals), and Kathryn Southworth (piano) – with Dan Faiella joining them on the guitar and Irish low whistle.

The program will feature vocal pieces drawn from Veal’s many years as a church musician, instrumental arrangements of well-known hymns, and traditional songs arranged for voice, fiddle and guitar. Texts come from Biblical passages and poets such as hymnist Fanny Crosby and Quaker poet John Greenleaf Whittier. Selections will include “Simple Gifts,” “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hand,” “Brother James’ Air,” “Be Thou My Vision,” and the shape-note melody “Amelia,” among others.

Admission is $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors. For more information or to purchase tickets, please call 228-1196 or visit ccmusicschool.org.
