Fly tying classes being offered, starting Jan. 6

A beginner’s fly tying class, sponsored by the Basil W. Woods, Jr. Chapter of Trout Unlimited, will be held at the Passaconaway Club, Garvins Falls Road, and will run for six consecutive weeks beginning on Jan. 6, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Six of the basic fly pattern types will be taught, and all materials will be provided. For students that do not have, or do not want to invest in the required equipment initially, fly tying vises and equipment will be provided.

Class size is limited to 15 students with a minimum age of 14 on a first come, first served basis.

The cost of the class is $50.

At the completion of the beginner’s classes, a five-week intermediate class will commence, ending in mid-March with 10 fly patterns offered. This offers the beginner an opportunity to continue with the learning process, and also to tiers of all levels to learn new patterns. The cost of this class is $75.

Please come and join us, and learn the art of fly tying, or brush up on your fly tying skills as a great way to enjoy the winter.

This is also a great idea as a Christmas gift.
