Check out the parks and recreation brochure

If you haven’t somehow come into ownership of the latest Concord Parks & Recreation Fall/Winter 2014-15 brochure, it’s time to drop by their office to grab one.

If you’re not in their neck of the woods, feel free to browse the electronic version on their website to see all of their new and exciting programs.

In addition to maintaining longtime favorites, such as basketball, dance, healthy cooking, archery, and Tae Kwon Do, the recreation department has added other programs that give residents the opportunity to broaden their horizons.

If your child has brought home a brochure from their school, look through and view the newest programs added, such as music and movement (ages 18 months to 5 years), as well as hip hop hula hooping on Saturday mornings for ages 6-12. And it’s not too early to start thinking about the holidays, folks; for the DIY savvy child in your life, think about enrolling them in Holiday Gift Giving, which caters to those ages 6-12 for three Saturdays in December.

The Concord Rec has also listed adult courses for ages 16 and up, such as T’ai Chi on Thursdays with retired police chief and acupuncturist, Bill Halacy, as well as beginner yoga and all levels yoga with Alison Murphy. There will also be rousing games of pickleball on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m to noon at Green Street Community Center, as well as Thursdays from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at the new Heights Community Center for the 50+ crowd.

Lastly, the Rec’s Senior Citizen Program has grown from bingo, bone builders and VNA programs to also now include a coffee club, movie days and luncheons. If you’re looking to get out and about, some munchies and a movie might just be the thing.

If you have any questions about the latest programs that the Rec has rolled out, don’t hesitate to check their website, concordnh.gov/recreation, or give their office staff a call at 225-8690.
