Mayor’s prayer breakfast slated for Nov. 21

The Greater Concord Area Task Force Against Racism and Intolerance invites you to join them for the 18th Annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast on Friday, Nov. 21, from 7:15 to 9 a.m. at the Grappone Conference Center. This year’s theme is “Being a Good Samaritan” and will feature guest speaker Juliana Eades, Executive Director of the NH Community Loan Fund and NH Business Review’s 2013 Outstanding Woman in Business.

What is a “Good Samaritan?” Being a Good Samaritan means giving a helping hand or providing resources to our neighbors in need, such as the homeless, the elderly (some of whom are homebound), refugees, poor children (many of whom are hungry and homeless) and any others who are in need.

“The Concord Area Task Force Against Racism and Intolerance is dedicated to ensure that we live and work in a healthy community. The Annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast is an opportunity for community members to gather together, to share a meal and to learn what is being done, or needs to be done, to help those less fortunate than we are. The goal of each breakfast is to raise our community consciousness in a welcoming gathering,” said Helen McGlashan, Chair of the Task Force.

In 1997, Mayor Bill Veroneau (a founding member of the Task Force) established the first Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast. That breakfast began a continuing series of Mayor’s Prayer breakfasts, meetings, picnics and rounds of study and community circles that continue to occur annually to ensure that Concord continues to be a city that is welcoming to all who live here. Mayor Jim Bouley is continuing the tradition of the prayer breakfasts.

Tickets are $20 per person and include a full breakfast. They can be purchased at the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce, 49 S. Main St. Please make checks payable to Granite United Way with “Prayer Breakfast” on the memo line.
