Junior Service League red carpet gala Nov. 15

The Junior Service League of Concord (JSL), a non-profit volunteer organization whose mission is to help women and children in crisis in the greater Concord community, has chosen Child and Family Services (CFS), a private non-profit organization, as its primary partner in fundraising and giving efforts for 2014-15.

Each year, the JSL raises and donates thousands of dollars for local organizations and schools that share its mission. While many organizations will benefit from the funds raised, a primary partnership in which one organization receives a larger percentage of funds, allows for more targeted outreach, fundraising and programming.

“We have always supported CFS programs, but this year’s partnership will allow us to have a greater impact on the Children of Incarcerated Parents (CIP) program, a CFS program that partners with the Department of Corrections to foster healthy relationships between parents and children,” says Kristen Evans, the JSL president. “The CIP program also includes a two week camp experience where children of incarcerated parents can be with other children in a similar situation, build social support systems and bolster self-esteem.”

The Fall fundraising event is the annual JSL Red Carpet Gala, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Grappone Center. Tickets are $79 and include dinner and dancing to Club Soda band, hourly wine raffles, live auction and a $1,000 grand prize cash give-away. Live auction items have been beautifully hand-crafted by artisans at the men’s and women’s prison.
