Our beautifully written column inspired a beautifully drawn cartoon

Our five-day-a-week column in the Concord Monitor has brought us fame in circles we’d never thought possible, and even a few squares and rhombuses. In reality, it probably has little to do with the words – it’s only because there’s a photo with it and people recognize us as “those guys who tell us to do stuff.”
It’s not usually interactive, though. But thanks to an enterprising 13-yeard old Concordian, that’s no longer the case.

It all began last week when we wrote about Hug Your Cat Day, because, well, why the heck not? But that column inspired Olivia Fletcher, 13-year-old aspiring Concord writer and artist, to create the cartoon we present to you here.

Three things are immediately evident: it’s better than anything we’ve ever drawn, it’s a spot on representation of the appealing surliness of cats, and its on this page.

Thanks to Olivia for the creativity, thanks to her mom, Margaret, who (with or without Olivia’s permission, it’s not really clear) shared the cartoon with us, and thanks to cats, for being so awesome there’s an entire day dedicated to hugging them. Speaking of which, when is Hug An Insider day going to become a thing?
