You’re invited to a snowshoe party on the Greenway Trail

Trail lovers are invited to make tracks on Saturday at a snowshoe party in Concord on the future Merrimack River Greenway Trail.

The Feb. 22 free event will bring trail lovers together along the Merrimack River bank on the site of the future Greenway Trail in downtown Concord. The event is hosted by the Friends of the Merrimack River Greenway Trail and will start at 9 a.m. at the kiosk off Gully Hill Road behind Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Cross-country skiers, dogs and children – all are welcome! Weather permitting, the snowshoe hike is a 2-mile round-trip trek to Terrill Park and back. Attendees are encouraged to go as far as they are comfortable. The hike will follow the planned route for Phase 1, skirting along the cornfields off of Loudon Road and following the Merrimack River to the south.

“This trail will reconnect Concord residents and visitors to the Merrimack River and give families a safe, recreational venue in the downtown area,” said Stacey Brown, Merrimack River Greenway Trail trustee. “Folks who come out on Saturday will get to see how beautiful the view of the City is from across the river.”

EMS in Concord is offering a $5 snowshoe rental that day and The Works will provide bagels and coffee to participants. Everyone who attends will be entered into a raffle for a free snowshoe rental from EMS.
