Bulletin board: Sushi now an option at the Concord Co-op

Looking for an easy, healthy, fast lunch or dinner? Swing by the Concord Co-op’s brand new sushi department. The Co-op’s award-winning Celery Stick Café chefs have partnered with the sushi masters at Shizen to provide delicious all-natural sushi made fresh every day of the week, during all Co-op store hours. If you happen to catch the sushi master behind the counter, he’s happy to make you custom sushi rolls to order, too.

The Co-op offers many of the traditional raw fish options, but – if the idea of raw fish makes you squeamish – know that only 30 percent of the Shizen menu features raw fish. Also check out cooked and vegetarian rolls and inari (soy-based pockets).

What’s so special about this sushi? It’s totally all-natural! You may not realize that the vast majority of sushi products are not all-natural. By contrast, everything in our sushi is clean and delicious. In Japanese, “shizen” conveys the idea of “natural” or “leave it alone.”

Concord Food Co-op is the natural community market and café located at 24 S. Main St.
