Bulletin Board: Concord Regional VNA seeking volunteer coaches for falls prevention program, offering grief discussion

The Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association is seeking volunteer coaches for “A Matter of Balance,” a falls prevention program that gives older adults the self-confidence to reduce their fear of falling and improve their activity levels. The training sessions are held Oct. 28 and 29 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at Concord Regional VNA, The Slusser Center, 30 Pillsbury St.

“A Matter of Balance” helps older adults become more confident about managing falls by believing that they can increase their strength, find ways to reduce falls, and protect themselves if they do fall. The evidence-based program uses recommendations from healthcare professionals, experiences of participants, and exercise to help older adults prevent falls and conquer their fear of falling.

To learn more about becoming a volunteer coach, call 224-4093 or 800-924-8620, ext. 5815.

Also, the VNA is offering men’s grief discussion groups on Oct. 10 and Oct. 24 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Concord Regional VNA Hospice House.  There is no registration or fee to attend. Call 224-4093, ext. 2828, or email carmella.dow@crvna.org.
