Bulletin Board: Digital bookmobile making stop on Main Street

New Hampshire residents will be able to learn about downloadable e-book and digital audiobooks hands-on, thanks to the New Hampshire State Library, which is bringing Overdrive’s Digital Bookmobile to the state.

The Bookmobile will be making a stop in Concord on Aug. 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of the State House on North Main Street.

The Bookmobile will showcase the free downloadable services that are available to New Hampshire library card holders 24 hours a day, seven days a week, through the New Hampshire Downloadable Books Consortium, which is coordinated by the State Library. Downloads through the Consortium increased 237 percent from 2010 to 2012.

Housed in a 74-foot tractor trailer, the Bookmobile is equipped with broadband Internet-connected PCs, high definition monitors, premium sound systems and a variety of portable media players. It is operated by Overdrive, the New Hampshire Downloadable Books Consortium’s eBook provider.

There is no cost to visit the Bookmobile. To learn more about the N.H. Downloadable Books Consortium, visit nh.lib.overdrive.com. To learn more about the Digital Bookmobile, visit DigitalBookmobile.com.

Your library’s download service is available 24/7 and it’s easy to use. Browse for your favorite authors or bestselling titles, checkout the title with your library card, then download the files to your computer and enjoy. Continue the journey at DigitalBookmobile.com or start your own by visiting concordpubliclibrary.net.
