Bulletin Board: VNA offering program to aid fall prevention

The Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association is offering an eight-week falls prevention program “A Matter of Balance,” to give older adults the self-confidence to reduce their fear of falling and improve their activity levels. The program is on Wednesdays beginning Aug. 14 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Centennial Senior Center, Smokestack Center, 254 N. State St.

“A Matter of Balance” is an evidence-based program that uses recommendations from healthcare professionals, experiences of participants, and exercise to help older adults who:

∎ Have suffered a fall in the past

∎ Restrict activities because of concerns about falling

∎ Are interested in improving flexibility, balance, and strength

∎ Are 60 or older, active, and able to problem solve

There is no fee to attend this program and space is limited. To register, call (603) 224-4093 or (800) 924-8620, ext. 5815.
