The Zonta Club of Concord announces the New American Merit Award is now available to young women who are refugees or asylees and are current high school seniors in the Concord area.
Applicants must have a commitment to develop themselves as a leader or person; have been accepted to continue their education at a college or university; have demonstrated responsibility for their family and community; and have demonstrated leadership in their school community.
The award is for $500 and applications are available at local high schools or by contacting Karla Roth at 456-2759. Deadline for submission of an application is May 17.
The Zonta Club of Concord is affiliated with Zonta International, a global organization of executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy. Locally, Zonta provides volunteer and financial support to local programs and scholarships that support women.
