Blessing of the Boxes

The annual “Blessing of the Boxes” ceremony will be held Dec. 17 at noon to kick off the Capital Region Food Program’s 39th annual Holiday Food Basket Project at the New Hampshire National Guard Armory on Pembroke Road.

During the ceremony, Gov. John Lynch and other local dignitaries will address the project’s volunteers and Rabbi Robin Nafshi of the Temple Beth Jacob will offer a blessing.

The Holiday Food Basket Project begins Dec. 17 and will conclude on Dec. 26. Through this project, over 2,500 families, or an estimated 8,000 residents, will receive food items for a holiday dinner and additional staples to supplement meals for an additional two to three weeks. Over 70 tons of food will be distributed in Concord and 17 surrounding communities, through this one week,  100-percent volunteer project.
