Potty in the USA
Staff of the General Services Department's public properties pision has been working diligently over the past several weeks to refurbish the restroom facilities at Memorial Field, Tom writes. The work is now complete in anticipation of fall sports.
New wheels
The fire department recently placed its new incident command vehicle in service, Tom tells us. “The 2011 Ford Expedition will be used by the shift commander and has a wide range of incident management and safety equipment, including mobile data computers, radios and reference materials,” he wrote.

And onto the sidewalk
Work continues in front of the Abbot-Downing (formerly Conant) School, as part of the South Street Safe Routes to School Improvement Project, Tom writes. Next week, workers will be constructing new sidewalks and readjusting curbing. Traffic will be subject to single lane conditions. Minor delays are anticipated, he warned.
Sunday construction
The contractor is scheduled to install base pavement on Loudon Road, from Hazen Drive to East Side Drive, on Sunday evening, beginning at 6 p.m. During the evening, the paving vehicles will occupy a 300-foot section of the two westbound lanes, as they progress from Hazen Drive to East Side Drive.
Westbound traffic will occupy the two east bound lanes. Eastbound traffic will be detoured onto Blodgett Street to Pembroke Road to Canterbury Road.
“We are hoping to complete this by Monday morning. The remainder of the week will focus on raising sewer manhole covers and valve boxes to grade,” he wrote.
The end is near
This week, Pike Industries has been pouring the concrete ADA tip-down ramps on Thayer Pond Road and Badger, Springfield, King and Forest streets. Next week, they will start raising the manhole covers on all of these streets and patching them in preparation for the final overlay the first week of September. They will also be finishing up the berm on Thayer Pond Road and King Street, Tom tells us.

The Concord Public Library has received notification from the New Hampshire State Library that it has been awarded a Fiscal Year 2012 Conservation License Plate Grant in the amount of $3,398. The grant funds will support the Concord Public Library's proposed project to conserve and digitize theWhite's Opera House scrapbooks, compiled by Judge Elwin Page between 1875 and 1920. The scrapbooks are part of the library's Concord history collection located in the Concord Room.

A roundabout at a time
Tom and the city took a moment to give a shoutout to the residents in the Auburn Street, Centre Street and Liberty Street area for their effort to keep the roundabout and its surroundings so beautiful. Nice work, guys!
