It’s not every day you get to be named Girl of the Year, but for Sarah Jache, last Wednesday was her day.

Eleven-year-old Jache is a member of Girls Incorporated of New Hampshire and was honored with the title at the nonprofit’s annual awards last week.

Girls Inc. provides after- school and summer programs for elementary and middle school girls, encouraging them to live of to the organization’s motto of being “strong, smart, and bold.”

Twelves girls competed for this year’s honor. The girls interviewed before a panel of local businesswomen, who voted for their favorite.

Other nominees for Girl of the Year included Karmyn LaDuke, Lindsey Bailey, Ashley Sigrist, Grace Milliken, Maryssa Baillargeon, D’Jana Martin, Sam Locke, Christina Harris, Carissa Adams, Chanice Williams and Lurena Kelly. Nice work, girls!
