Eagle

Boston-based wood carver Leonard Morse charged the state $50 for carving this 600-pound eagle for the State House dome. The eagle, standing at over six feet tall, decorated the dome until it was replaced with a gilded copper bird in 1957. This one is on display at the historical society.
