City briefly

Game on for soccer

In this week’s memo, City Manager Tom Aspell had a ball talking soccer. Here’s the scoop:
The recreation department extended its fall soccer registration deadline to July 29. “There are leagues for boys and girls as young as 4 years old up to high school age,” Tom wrote.

Tom added that the folks at the rec department must receive registration forms as soon as possible so they can assign coaches, develop teams and set up schedules. The season begins mid-August, so hop on that, mom and dad.

Just swim in our pools, why dont’cha?

Out-of-towners are now invited to live the same magnificent lifestyle as Concord’s finest.

Yes, that’s right – family pool passes are now available for nonresidents. It will set you back $55, but you’ll be thanking your lucky stars during summer’s most sizzlin’ days. Plus, you’ll have access to all seven (that’s right, we said seven!) of the city’s outdoor pools.

Pools are open through Aug. 12, so get your pass before time runs out.

Passes can be purchased at the recreation office, 1 White St., Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
