Meet Corey: He loves the ‘80s (and spandex)

When we sent out the reader survey on “top ’80s picks,” Corey Garland not only answered the survey questions (see page 2), but also offered his services for the issue. His ’80s passion inspired the following Q&A:

How old are you? 31.

What do you do for a living? Ethanol Pharmacology (bartender ) and wedding photographer. (Ed. – We like Corey’s tagline for his photo-snapping business: “Specializing in wicked good wedding photography and portraiture.” A true New Hampshirite. Visit coreygarland.com to see some of his work.)

Tell us, in detail, why you love the ’80s: Girls in spandex, ’nuff said.

Do you own any ’80s memorabilia? Record albums.

Were you in Concord for the ’80s? If so, what was it like? I did live in Concord – it was a good time. It was exactly the same minus Wal-mart and Target and cell phones.

What valuable life lessons can we take away from the ’80s? To stay gold, you’ve got to hold on to what you got, it doesn’t make a difference if you make it or not, we’ve got each other and that’s a lot for love.

If there was a “Corey’s Day Off” movie filmed in Concord (think Ferris Bueller), what crazy antics would you get into? I would sneak into the mayor’s office by pretending to be a pizza delivery guy and put myself on the city of Concord’s payroll by inserting a floppy disk into the “main frame” and not work.

What are your thoughts on mullets? Sophisticated up top and party in the back. Rat tails are really where it’s at.

If Tom Cruise in “Risky Business” got into a fight with Tom Cruise in “Top Gun,” who would win? Tom Cruise in “Cocktail” would kick both their A*%@ due to his cunning ability to pick up Cougars. But if that isn’t an option, I would go to “Top Gun” Tom Cruise because “he’s dangerous.”
