1942 Archives - The Concord Insider

Last week’s classic Concord photo was of the American house, located at the corner of North Main and Park Streets. Reader Earl Burroughs tells us the house was built in only six weeks back in 1834, with workers working ’round the clock – three eight-hour shifts per day. The building burned down in 1867. A lot of readers wrote in to guess that the photo was of Carleen’s Cafe, which was located at the corner of Center and North Main Streets. Well, it wasn’t – but this one is! The cafe can be seen in the background of this photo.
