Don’t worry South Main Street, nobody forgot about you. Now that the North Main Street phase of the two-year construction project is done, you’ll be getting a face-lift starting in the spring – or whenever the snow goes away. It sure will be nice when both sides of Main Street look all shiny and new. (TIM GOODWIN / Insider staff) -

If you’re planning on driving through downtown over the next week or so, leave yourself an extra five minutes to get there, as traffic will be a little dicey. Here’s a quick schedule:

Tuesday – Wednesday: Concord Street will be closed for the installation of its crosswalk.

The full intersection at Main and Pleasant streets will be repaved Thursday evening beginning at 8 p.m. through Friday until approximately 2 p.m. The intersection will be fully closed during the paving. Uniformed officers will be on hand to redirect traffic. Construction crews will be working overnight Thursday in the intersection.

Thursday: Hills Ave., Theatre, Concord, Fayette and Thompson streets will have temporary closures for two hours at a time during the day for grinding of the pavement. Officers will be on hand to direct traffic.

Thursday, 8 p.m. to Friday, 2 p.m.: South Main will be closed to northbound traffic at Hills Avenue. This is similar to the closure at this end of the street during Market Days. Vehicle access to and egress from the Concord Food Co-op parking lot will be possible. Deliveries to businesses farther north on South Main will be accommodated by construction crews.
